Trebles are a rarity at any level of the football pyramid so it is understandable that Trix FC manager Nick Carr is revelling in his side’s success.

Triumphs in the High Wycombe Combination and Berks & Bucks Cups have added to a High Wycombe Division One Crown to complete a memorable season for anyone associated with the club.

The size of the achievement is not lost on Carr and the value he places on Trix’s success is immediately obvious when he speaks.

“This season has been something else and to have won the treble is really surreal. It is definitely one of the biggest achievements of my life,” he explains.

“To achieve the treble is something that I can’t quite believe I have done myself. It is just unbelievable.”

Having initially formed as a six-a-side team five years ago, it is fair to say the club’s rise has been meteoric.

After cleaning up in local tournaments a move to the 11-a-side format of the game and High Wycombe’s Sunday Combination League was the obvious next step.

It has been a seamless transition, and they have won 27 trophies across the two formats and leapfrogged Division Two of the local league ladder after claiming the Division Three title.

The success may be eye watering when boiled down to sheer numbers, but Carr insists it stems from a hugely talented playing squad and committed approach to training.

“We are a Sunday league team and I will be honest with you we have some players in our team who should be playing in the Saturday Leagues,” Carr says.

“We play a 4-3-3, are an attacking team and we are all about scoring goals. We train twice a week and the players have been a joy this season.”

The stats certainly back up Carr’s belief in his squad. A campaign of 34 games produced 33 wins as Trix plundered 133 goals throughout the season while conceding only 23.

The form of leading goalscorer Asher Jennings, who has scored 34 goals and assisted 22, also supports Carr’s claim his players are good enough for a higher level.

In a remarkable year Carr, who takes on most of the off field responsibilities at the club, admits it is hard to pick a defining moment, but does have particularly fond memories of the Berks & Bucks Cup run.

He said: “There were a few moments when I believed we could do something special this season. One was in the Berks & Bucks when we came from 3-0 down to beat Wycombe Town.

“We came back to beat them 4-3 after scoring three goals in the last 10 minutes.”

What next then for a club which seems to be in a hurry to achieve? Well, the High Wycombe Premier Division awaits next season, and for Carr the goal is to develop Trix as much as he can.

“The plan is we build again for next year and we may even add a reserve team to the club,” he said. “We go up to the Premier Division next season and the aim is to do as well as we can in that.”
