Chesham United have announced a new board management structure ahead of the 2016/17 season.

The changes will see a host of new appointments made to support chairman Brian McCarthy as well as existing directors Roger Payne and Mike Dragisic.

Current manager Andy Leese also takes on new responsibilities at board level as he becomes director of football, a role which will see him look to build links between Chesham’s playing staff.

Long-term fan and Asprey Harris Insurance Consultants owner, Peter Brown, will become head of finance at the club, while Mark Ford will head up the new hospitality team which manages The Chess Suite.

Announcing the changes, McCarthy said: “I am delighted that we have been able to make these appointments with both new and returning volunteers bringing experience to the operation of the club.

“All of these positions need teams built up to support the various activities needed to achieve our objectives and if anyone can contribute please get in touch.”

The Generals are expected to have some 500 players from the age of five upwards representing 35 teams in both men’s and women’s leagues next season.

United hope to develop better links and integration between the players’ coaches and families involved with all of these teams to fulfil their One Club initiative.

Leese’s new role as director of football will see him work closely with David Trevillion and Scott Getley from the youth section, Lisa Welling and Sian Williams of the girls and ladies teams and Chesham academy’s Shaun Reece.

He is looking forward to fostering a better relationship between the club’s various teams and believes the changes at board level are a step forward for Chesham.

He said: “It is really positive news for the club to have a new structure at board level. It had become a necessity with too few people doing too many things.

“My role is an extension of what I currently do and it will mean the decision making process for football matters should be easier.

“It will not distract from my football management responsibilities which is my primary role at the club as we look to build on last season. In fact it should enhance it as we look to pull all the sections of the club together to ensure progress is made as one club.”

The club have also announced that season tickets for the upcoming campaign will cost the same as last season. Existing holders must renew before Saturday, July 2 to qualify for a discount.
