Booker Gym Club’s Jack O’Brien followed up his success at the British Championships with a call-up to Great Britain’s side for the Loule Cup.

His selection comes after he secured a top five finish in the tumbling finals at Liverpool’s Echo Arena earlier this month.

The 13-year-old will travel to Portugal with the Great Britain squad for what will be his first appearance at international level at the end of October.

Meanwhile, 10 of Booker’s girls have returned from the USAIGC World Championships where they took part in floor, vault, asymmetric bars and beam competitions.

Over 1,000 girls from around the world, who have all won gold medals in their respective national events, competed in categories of 30 plus gymnasts.

The large groups meant that medals were awarded for finishes in the top 10, a feat which all of Booker’s gymnasts achieved.

There were golds for Anna Lewis (bars), Maya Zajac-Acheampong (bars) and Charlie Hawes (beam).

Laura Perring was also on fine form to win silver in the bars while Sophie Withey (bars) and Amy Longhurst (floor) won bronze.

Booker had further reason to celebrate after the club enjoyed a strong showing at the National NDP Tumbling finals in Telford.

The club had eight competitors representing the Southern Region across the two day event after they qualified earlier this year.

Louie Holliday and Freddie Hoskins were the top performers as they both won silver medals in their respective age groups.

Callum Bartlett and Ozzy Emery were unfortunate to miss out on a medal and both finished fourth, while George Roscoe came fifth in the Level Two category.

There were respective sixth place finishes for Jemma Coombs and Dylan Lawrence before Daniel Giles completed the club’s involvement at the event as he claimed seventh.
