Formula One Sidecar duo Brian Gray and Adam Christie were back in action at Snetterton after missing out on the last round of the British Championships.

Commitments in the World Sidecar Championships meant Gray and Christie missed the trip to Knockhill in June and were eager to make up for lost time.

In a competitive field they managed to secure 14th place in qualification using their 1,000cc Yamaha R1 powered sidecar.

After finishing 12th in Saturday’s first race, the High Wycombe pair opted to change bike for the second and climbed to seventh.

“I knew we needed more time for the engine to get it right so we decided to use the old machine which paid off,” Gray said of the decision to change bike at the midway point.

Christie added: “In the first race the bike just wouldn’t handle. The second race was more like it, but we still want to get the new engine right because it is so much faster than the older one.”

Gray and Christie are currently tied for 12th position in the championship standings ahead of the next race at Thruxton in two weeks’ time.
