Marlow's Tyrrell Hatton insists the Ryder Cup is not on his agenda despite another impressive performance in a major at the US PGA Championship.

Hatton followed his second place in the Scottish Open with a share of fifth the following week in the Open at Royal Troon and finished tied 10th at Baltusrol alongside compatriot Paul Casey.

That run of results has lifted the 24-year-old to ninth on the European Points List and 14th on the World Points List, less than 35 points behind Matt Fitzpatrick in the final automatic qualifying place.

"To be honest, it's not going through my mind," said Hatton, who carded three rounds in the 60s at Baltusrol after an opening 71.

"One day it would be great to play a Ryder Cup. That's what all the European lads want to do. It's not something that I'm thinking about. I'm just trying to play the best I can and everything else takes care of itself."

Hatton admits he would have to reconsider his schedule if he produces another good performance this week, having secured a place in the Travelers Championship on the PGA Tour with his top-10 finish.

"I think my girlfriend might be a little bit disappointed, though," added Hatton, who was 121st in the world in April but has now climbed to a career-high of 52nd. "We had planned five days in New York. That would have been really nice, but obviously it will be nice to play a PGA event as well.

"I've never been to New York and we were going do all the touristy stuff. At least my girlfriend has been before, so she's done all that kind of stuff. She is really excited to be out here and it's nice to have her here.

"I was planning on having four weeks off after this week. I was going to play Switzerland (the week after Ryder Cup qualifying finishes). Things are a little bit up in the air now. We'll just have to wait and see.

"But for me to do this well in world-class fields is great for my confidence. Hopefully this is just a start for me and I can continue doing well in big events and hopefully get my first win sometime soon."
