AJ Owen continued his fine form in the Pre-2003 Touring Car Championships with two excellent drives at Brands Hatch.
The reigning champion finished first and second to outscore all of his championship rivals.
He had to show great control in qualifying to give himself the best chance possible to prosper in the race.
In soaking conditions Owen lost control of his car but managed to keep it out of the gravel run off area and steer himself to second spot on the grid.
A quick start to race one propelled Owen to the front of the pack, before a miscalculation on the run through paddock hill saw him drop back to fifth.
The former Sir William Ramsey student took the blow in his stride and soon climbed to third before setting about chasing down the leaders.
He would overtake both as the trio lapped slower cars by taking a smart racing line on the inside and held on for the win from there.
He followed up the victory with an excellent defensive drive to hold onto second place after a problem with his steering column hampered his speed through the corners.
