The Wormsley Estate is set to play host to potential cricket internationals of the future as the England under-19s take on Sri Lanka under-19s on Wednesday.

The ODI will be the first of a three match series which provides England with the chance to get revenge for their ICC under-19 World Cup defeat to Sri Lanka.

That match saw Sri Lanka ease to a six-wicket victory as they chased down England’s 184 all out with minimal fuss.

The two sides met in a test match last week which ultimately ended in a draw as Sri Lanka frustrated their hosts who had made a fine start to the match.

England posted 500-9 from their first innings, thanks in no small part to George Bartlett’s 131, before retiring and bowling Sri Lanka out cheaply and enforcing the follow on.

Scores of 77 and 70 from Dilan Jayalath and Charith Asalanka prevented England from securing the win and they will look to go one better next week.

Based in Stokenchurch, the Wormsley pitch offers a picturesque backdrop for England’s next batch of stars to test themselves.

The match will provide members of the public with a rare chance to visit the stunning setting.
