After experiencing unrest off the track, including the departure of a driver, Beechdean Aston Martin Racing returned to the British GT Championship in style at Snetterton.

Jack Bartholomew and Ross Gunn guided their GT4 Aston Martin to second and first place finishes over the two race weekend to continue their pursuit of the title.

Success would hand the team their third straight GT4 crown and Bartholomew was understandably delighted with the result at Snetterton.

“It was great to be part of the first Aston Martin Vantage V8 GT4 win at Snetterton,” he said.

“The entire team were awesome all weekend and managed to quickly erase the gremlins we suffered in Saturday practice. This victory was certainly a team effort and I can’t wait for Donnington.”

Gunn, who was returning to the GT4 for the first time since the end of last year, also impressed during the race weekend.

The reigning British GT4 champion praised the efforts of the Beechdean backroom team and his racing partner.

He said: “I enjoyed my return to GT4 and assisting with Jack’s and Beechdean’s assault on the title.

“Both races were near faultless from all the guys and it was fantastic to be back on the podium.”

It was an equally productive weekend for Beechdean’s other GT4 car as Paul Hollywood and Jamie Chadwick claimed their first championship points of the season.

The sixth place finish represented a milestone moment for both Hollywood and Chadwick and they were in good form throughout the meet.

“It felt like my first proper race dicing with other drivers for position and learning my race craft,” said celebrity baker Hollywood.

“Huge thanks goes to Jamie and all of the Beechdean team for their help and support.”

Chadwick echoed Hollywood’s comments and said the weekend had delivered more than either driver could have hoped for.

He said: “Snetterton proved to be an excellent weekend for Paul and me. It was the first time we have properly raced together.

“The two shorter races gave us and the team valuable experience. We were looking for two solid results, so to only miss out on fifth in race two was beyond our own expectations.”

Beechdean’s results at Snetterton keeps them in contention to claim the title when the championship concludes at Donnington in September.

Bartholomew and Gunn took 27 points out of championship leaders RCIB Insurance Racing’s advantage and have outscored their rivals at the last two meets.

The pair will continue in Beechdean’s #407 car for the final race and will need a 14 point swing to take the championship.
