A pulsating last-day run chase was only enough to secure Bucks a draw in their final Unicorns Counties Championship Eastern Division match of the season.

Suffolk won the toss and chose to bat. A decision which they may well have been regretting after falling to 61-6.

The early collapse was spearheaded by High Wycombe’s Jonathan Burden and Gerrards Cross’ Alex Woodland who took three wickets apiece.

They recovered well though and managed to post a commendable 214 from their first innings.

Bucks’ reply faltered from the outset and they would have been looking at a deficit of more than 100 runs but for Cameron Parson’s and Burden’s last wicket stand.

Parsons was particularly impressive on his way to an unbeaten 46 and the Wycombe team-mates dragged Bucks to 167 all out.

Despite Dan Hampton (3-57) leading a decent Bucks bowling display in Suffolk’s second innings, they batted diligently to amass an imposing lead.

There calm batting Display left Bucks chasing a daunting 379 to win on the final day.

Nonetheless scores of 76 and 61 from Patrick Castledon and Woodland led their side to within 29 runs of their target of 379 before running out of overs.

They end the season bottom of the table without a win after finishing as runners up in 2015.
