MARLOW golfer Tyrrell Hatton will be making his first start on the 2017 European Tour in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, hoping to emulate his feats of last year.

The world number 23, who is the Harleyford Golf Club professional, will be pegging it up at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship alongside some of the best golfers in the world.

Rory Mcilroy, US Open champion Dustin Johnson, Masters champion Danny Willett and last year’s winner Rickie Fowler, will be among the protagonists aiming to scoop this prestigious prize.

In October, Hatton won his first tournament on the European Tour at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, which propelled him into the world’s top 50.

He then finished runner-up behind Matt Fitzpatrick at the DP World Tour Championship in November which then cemented his place amongst golf’s elite.

Hatton also had numerous excellent finishes last season, including a top five in the The Open at Royal Troon in July.

The 25-year-old will be hoping to make a fast start in the desert in the lead-up to his Masters debut at Augusta in April.
