Tyrrell Hatton finished tied 30th at the prestigious BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth this weekend, 10 strokes behind winner Alex Noren.

The world number 16 went into the final round just five shots off the lead on three under and in with a chance of lifting the title.

However, the tough Wentworth layout proved too tricky for Hatton on a day when the leading protagonists were shooting scores in the 60s.

The 25-year-old could only manage a two over par 74 and finished well down the field.

Hatton was playing with the popular Andrew Johnston in the final round, known in the golfing world as 'Beef'.

The Harleyford golf professional took to Twitter to express his frustration at his final round exploits:

Hatton will likely be next in action at this season's second major, the US Open at Erin Hills which takes place on June 15 to 18.

It will be the first time Erin Hills has hosted a major and the US Open is generally the toughest scoring one so Hatton will be hoping to be on top form.
