Great Britain hockey stars, Kate and Helen Richardson-Walsh, are opening the new pitch and clubhouse at Amersham and Chalfont Hockey Club on Saturday.

The pair will be attending the opening event at Amersham & Wycombe College, on Stanley Hill, this weekend.

Peter Rowlins, ACHC chairman, said: "We are delighted that Kate Richardson-Walsh and Helen Richardson-Walsh, TeamGB Olympic Team Hockey Gold Medalists at Rio in 2016, will be our guests of honour to open our new Amersham and Chalfont Hockey Clubhouse and Pitch.

"Their gold medal win at the Rio Olympics, just over a year ago, is an inspiration to all hockey players, but also all sports people young and old.

"Their Rio win made the front page of all the papers, delayed the BBC Ten O’Clock news and had the whole country cheering for an amazing team.  They are the epitome of what is true ‘team’ sporting greatness.

"We are lucky and also proud to have Kate and Helen as ambassadors for our sport, and for them to come to celebrate the official opening of our newly built facilities.

Amersham & Chalfont Hockey Club is a thriving and friendly local hockey club with over 500 junior members.

"The new pitch and clubhouse will make a significant difference to training sessions and matches.

"We would like to thank Sport England, and Methods our principal club sponsor, as well as all the fundraising efforts of our members and parents for making this dream a reality.”
