Two High Wycombe drivers had a brilliant weekend on the track when they finished first and second at Silverstone in the British Touring Car Championships.

Tom Ingram and Jack Goff were both on the front row in race one, with Goff starting on pole. It was an epic battle between the two men with Ingram turning the tables and edging out Goff as winner.

In race two, Goff changed that with his first win in his new car and this time he beat Ingram into second place with a rousing performance.
Race three had a reversed grid and Ingram managed a creditable fourth with Goff placed in ninth.

This means going into the last round Ingram is now fourth in the championship with Goff not far behind in sixth position.

Ingram said: “It was mega to take our fourth outright win of the season, and goes to underline just how far we have come as a team in a relatively short space of time.

“We were under no illusions that race two was going to be tougher, with 75kg on-board and the hard tyres.

"Jack just had the legs on me so I let him go, and I knew the guys behind would catch me eventually too but I also knew Colin wouldn’t try anything stupid and fortunately for us, he then found himself with his own hands full fending off Ash. Given that our aim had been to stay inside the top ten, to come away with second place was a fantastic result and testament to the absolutely awesome job done once again by all the Speedworks boys and girls.

“Continuing that theme, the Avensis was superb in race three, even with so much ballast.

“The first lap was just a case of choosing a place to be on the track and hoping for the best, and once we were up to fourth – with all the drivers around us on the harder tyres – I thought, ‘this one’s ours!’

“After working my way up into second, I sat behind Rob for several laps to size up where he was potentially vulnerable. I was beginning to struggle with the brakes and just starting to lose my tyres, so when I saw my opportunity, I had to go for it because I knew there might not be another one. I got a run on him exiting Copse, but he just pushed me off.

“Going to Brands Hatch, realistically we know the overall championship isn’t going to happen but of course it’s satisfying to accomplish our pre-season objective of still being in with a shout.”
