A GP from Hazlemere won a brilliant bronze medal at the Age Group World Championships in Rotterdam last weekend.
Lena Poulton, who swims for the Wycombe District Swimming Club with her husband and three sons, returned to Holland this year to compete for the fourth time in the championships.
Poulton declared she was overjoyed to pick up an excellent bronze.
She said: “Considering I am the oldest in my age group, I am delighted with the result. The competition is also fierce and to get a medal is a great achievement.
Poulton, who won silver in Chicago in 2015 and a silver a year later in Mexico, also had to contend with a busy workload and full-on family life so to pick up a medal is even more of an achievement to her, finishing behind an ex-international pentathlete.
The GP only took up entering triathlons in 2013 and two years later was winning medals at the Europeans in Geneva as well as before that finishing second at the British Championships in St Neots which qualified her for the trip to Switzerland.
In terms of her next plans, Poulton is hoping to continue competing for some of the most prestigious titles.
