There was a good crowd at Weedon Lane to watch the Chiltern squad put under serious pressure for the first time this season. Nevertheless, Chiltern edged it with a 13-8 win in a scrappy, low-scoring contest between two well-matched teams near the top of the table.
Coach Dave Neale said of the victory: “We certainly weren’t at our best on Saturday, but we found a way to win. The players kept up the intensity until the end and, overall, we deserved our victory against a good Eton Manor team.
“Regardless of players who were or weren’t available, rugby is a squad game. That’s what we’ve needed throughout September and that’s what we needed on Saturday; the boys that came in stepped up and did the club proud.
“This win caps off a good September for the club, with five out of five so far. We know what’s ahead and that we’ll be tested every week.”
