Michael Harriman is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after breaking his leg in training last week.

The right-back required an operation following the accident last Tuesday and looks set to be sidelined for up to four months.

Manager Gareth Ainsworth said: “I feel desperately sorry for Michael to sustain such a nasty injury and we’re keeping everything crossed for a speedy recovery.

“Both Andrew Howard and I went to visit him in hospital shortly after and we’ll be doing all we can to help him through his recovery.

"We have an excellent medical department with some first-class facilities available to us thanks to our partnerships with BMI Healthcare and the Chilterns MS Centre, which will help us get him back on the pitch as quickly as possible.

“It’s hard to place an exact timescale on his rehabilitation at the moment; a couple of experienced members of the squad have had similar leg breaks during their careers and their comeback times were different, but the important thing is they both made a full recovery and are now playing superbly for us.

“He’ll be a big miss for us because he’s such a consistent performer for us week in, week out, and in my opinion he’s one of the best full-backs in the division.

“It means there are opportunities for other members of the squad to come into the side and this will be a test of the strength in depth that we have, to hopefully ensure that we continue to pick up results and perform to a high standard whenever we lose a player to injury.”
