Six hundred Bucks school children took part in the first of this season’s Chesham & District Inter Schools Cross Country Series at RAF Halton on Saturday.
A race of over 100 year 3 boys was won by Felix Danielli of The Beacon, with Charlie Quantrill of Chalfont St Peter in second and Hugo Mundy of Gerrards Cross in third.
The year 3 girls’ race was won by Ellie Danner of Gerrards Cross, from Olive Mitchell of Chesham Prep School in second.
Zach Cleary of Gateway repeated his success of last season by winning the year 4 boys’ race, beating Matthew Pannett of Gerrards Cross in second place, and Jobe Gorst of Ley Hill in third.
In the year 4 girls’ race, Katie Allsop of Gateway took gold ahead of Stella Berens and Ottilie Shemilt of Godstowe.
A highly competitive year 5 boys’ race was won by Daniel Carruthers of Chesham Prep School and Olivia Clarke of Chartridge led the sprint for the finish in the year 5 girls’ race.
In a close finish, it was a win for George Doyle of Chesham Prep School in the year 6 boys’ race and Marea Logan of Gateway opened her season with a clear win in the year 6 girls’ race.
