Beaconsfield travelled to Wallingford, where they have not won for four years, with a team ravaged by injuries. However, after a prolonged arm-wrestle, and a generally bruising encounter, Beaconsfield prevailed, scoring five tries, securing a bonus point, and ‘nil-ing’ their hosts in a 31-0 triumph.

Beaconsfield owned the ball and the territory in the early stages, with forward pressure at the line-out paying off after ten minutes, returning prop Stuart Robertson touching down and claiming the honours after a driving maul.

Prolific right wing Dan Cady added to his impressive season total [which includes two hat-tricks], scoring on the same spot five minutes later, following good multi-phase possession involving all forward and backs.

New scrum-half, Welsh wizard Aled Lewis, added the conversion.
Wallingford, inspired by their dynamic captain at scrum half, rallied strongly, securing plentiful possession and trying to exploit the space out wide, but Beaconsfield’s aggressive defence from centres Jonny Hughes and Charlie Beard , and recent Colt Owain Griffiths on the left wing, thwarted them up to the half-time whistle.

Wallingford continued to dominate possession and territory after the break, with their robust back row making ground around the edges of the breakdown.

However, the Beaconsfield back row of Chris Creak, Tom Leather and Hungarian international Andy Zairsky were up to the task, giving a further masterclass in line speed and aggressive defence.

In the last third of the game the visitors’ superior fitness and game-management began to pay off, with three further tries scored.

Wing Dan Cady secured a second, the pack collectively claimed a penalty try following repeated offences at the breakdown by Wallingford on their own line, and hooker and Man of the Match Wayne Jackson sealed the victory with a try out wide. Aled Lewis converted two of the three.
Beaconsfield now sit second in the league, just a point behind Buckingham.

They travel to Reading Abbey on Saturday for what promises to be a great game.
