It has been another remarkable week of sport across south Bucks and I may say it every week, but it is a privilege to report on such a rich sporting area.

I was off from covering Wycombe Wanderers this weekend so decided to make my way down to Beaconsfield Rugby Club to watch them play their title decider against Buckingham.

I am the first to admit that rugby is not my strongest sport but I could immediately tell how well-drilled and fluent Beaconsfield are and all credit to head coach, Simon Tattersall, for installing that in his players.

They produced a crushing 46-15 victory over their rivals and the scenes at the end were of jubilation.

It was great to chat to the president, Mike Wood, for a period of time after the game and you could tell how much winning the title meant to him.

Thanks also to Mike Eagle for keeping me abreast of their results and sending reports and pictures to me over the course of the season and it will be fantastic to see how they will get on next season.

The success kept on coming over the past week with the likes of Tom Ingram and Jack Goff excelling once again in the BTCC.

Both these guys are top-class drivers and to have both of them first and second in the drivers’ championship is a magnificent achievement and amazing for south Bucks.

Louise Sugden won a magnificent silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Australia and Nikki Emerson also performed superbly to finish sixth in the her final.

Both athletes are from High Wycombe and it will be interesting to see their progress with the Paralympics just two years away and am sure both are already preparing for Tokyo.

I also had the pleasure of interviewing young gun Teddie Casterton this week after he was named the Wisden Schools Cricketer of the Year on Wednesday evening at an event at Lords.

I was staggered to see his list of achievements in the past year at RGS. His average is touching 100 and I imagine anyone who saw his 267 not out last year was thoroughly astonished at what they witnessed.

He follows in the footsteps of Jonny Bairstow and Jos Buttler and if he can have a career like those two gentlemen you will hear an awful lot about him.

Having never spoken to Teddie before, he was very down-to-earth and has a fierce determination to keep improving, which will certainly stand him in good stead.

I am back following Wycombe Wanderers this weekend away at Yeovil as they begin their final five games. It promises to be a thrilling climax to the season.
