High Wycombe finished off their league programme with a defeat, losing 34-24 at Reading.
Reading were 19-7 ahead at the break but Wycombe started the second half strongly and Tom Catchpole away showed tremendous pace to score a try, Freddie Roddick made the kick for 19-14.
The scores fluctuated until Harry Tanner cut inside, he offloaded to Outten and with Wycombe close to the line the final pass was knocked on and Reading cleared.
From a lineout Reading looked to use their backs and threw a long pass out wide, Tanner read the move and intercepted the ball and ran in to score under the posts for 27-24.
With 15 minutes to go, Wycombe were looking for the win but it wasn’t to be as Reading had a lineout five metres out and after an infringement close to the line, Reading were awarded a penalty try 34-24, and despite some late Wycombe pressure, the scores stayed that way.
