On a beautiful day for cricket Chesham enjoyed another big win in Division Two of the Home Counties League, this time at home against Burnham, recently relegated after many years in Division One.

Electing to bat first Chesham made a rapid start with Matt Rance (32) and Andy Goddard (16) opened with a stand of 52 before both were dismissed with the score on 52.

Mark Eteen then fell for 11 before another impressive partnership of 90 between Jason Rance (47) and Robin Pritchard (60) followed by some big hitting towards the end by Matt Warner (38) and a useful contribution of 46 by Mr Extras enabled them to total 277/8 from the allotted 50 overs.

This was Pritchard’s third consecutive score of 60 or more in the league. Burnham soon lost early wickets to Jason Rance (2/19) and Matt Warner and it was only really Shabir (58) who offered stern resistance to the Chesham attack. With the youthful Sam Shabir bowled an impressive spell in taking 2/30 including the important wicket of Shabir. Burnham were eventually dismissed for 180 with overs to spare.
