GERRARDS Cross will take tomorrow’s visit from Beaconsfield in their stride, insisting the only significance in the game is that it is first against second.
Captain Steve Rimmer said: “This game has no extra signficance for us. It’s just another game as far as we’re concerned.
“We are oblivious to who we are up against, we just try to get on with it.
“I’ve only been here 18 months so I’m not going to get worked up by it like someone who has come up through the junior ranks.
“But I know what it means and just want to make sure nobody gets carried away with the emotion.
“We mustn’t allow the emotion and adrenaline to affect performance, but this side has really come on in the first part of the season.
“We are a strong unit with some strong individuals so I don’t think that will be a problem.”
Cross inched closer to Beaconsfield with a high-scoring draw at Thame last Saturday.
