BLUES boss Gary Waddock spent yesterday running the rule over three triallists as he looks to bolster his squad.
He has had two goalkeepers from the Blue Square Conference South League and an out-of-contract Football League centre half under his microscope this week.
Tuesday’s Bucks Free Press Midweek revealed that Lewes’ highly-rated glovesman Rikki Banks was training with the Blues this week and yesterday he was joined at the training ground by Eastleigh’s number one Steven Arnold.
Both have been viewed regularly by Wanderers’ scouts and Waddock wanted a closer inspection.
Banks, a 21-year-old former Crystal Palace apprentice, has been receiving rave reviews for a Lewes side who appear to be heading for their second successive relegation.
Waddock said: “We’ve had him watched for a while now and we wanted to get him in to have a good look at.
“Our scouts have seen him a number of times at Lewes and he’s been very busy and performed very well even though they are in the position they are in.”
The Brighton-born stopper made his third penalty save of the campaign in the Rooks’ 3-0 defeat at home to Blue Square South leaders Newport County last weekend.
He was one of two triallist keepers at the training ground yesterday with 20-year-old Eastleigh glovesman Arnold also being put through his paces.
Arnold has previously been with Grays Athletic and has also spent time at Norwich City as well as trialling with Brentford.
Waddock also checked out a centre half yesterday whose name he did not want to reveal.
The defender has got Football League experience but has been without a club this season.
But Waddock won’t be rushed into a decision on any of them.
He said: “We are having a look but whether I will make a decision on Friday I don’t know. I may well continue to monitor him. I won’t be rushed.
“We’ve had one or two players come in to have a look at and we will have one or two more players in over the next couple of months.
“It may be a case of now monitoring them between now and whatever window or the end of the season.”
