WYCOMBE star Isa Guha's remarkable year just gets better and better as she was named British Asian Sports Personality of the Year last Friday.
Guha is one the most destructive bowlers in womens cricket and last year was a key member of the England team which was crowned double world champions, winning the ICC World Cup and the ICC World Twenty20.
They also retained the Ashes, defeated Australia 4-0 in the NatWest one-day series and collected the Team of the Year award at the Sports Journalists' Association Awards.
Guha, who played junior cricket for High Wycombe CC and still lives in the town, said: "It is an honour to receive this award, but it is as much an award for the team as it is for me.
"We’ve had so much success in the last year, and without them I wouldn’t even have been nominated.
"It also shows how highly women’s cricket is regarded now.
"We’ve not always got the recognition we deserve, but the standard has improved, we’re winning games and there is a lot more interest in the game.”
Guha, who made her England Test debut in 2002 and won the BBC Asian Network Sports Personality of the Year the same year, won't get much time to celebrate though.
She flies out to India with the England squad later this week ahead of the one-day and Twenty20 series.
