WASPS have had some good news regarding Simon Shaw.

A second MRI scan on the England lock’s shoulder last week revealed that the injury is not as serious as feared.

Initial scans proved inconclusive, but Wasps say the injury is confined to the acromioclavicular (AC) joint and no other part of his shoulder has been damaged, although they have not said how long he will sidelined.

Meanwhile, Tom Rees could be ready to return at Sale in two weeks.

Director of rugby Tony Hanks said: “Tom is not far away. He’s back in training with the team but he’s not quite ready to go out there. We’ll see how he goes over the next week or two.”

Joe Simpson should return to training in four weeks after a dislocated shoulder, while Wasps expect Phil Vickery to resume full training towards the end of April after neck surgery.

Jason Hobson is about ten weeks away and Charlie Beech two months.
