DAVID Lemi has not been prolific this season, but dazzling runs in each of the last two matches have both led to tries and director of rugby Tony Hanks believes the winger is hitting top gear at just the right time.
Hanks said: “There is no doubting his quality, and we’ve started to see over the last few games that David’s starting to find his feet with us.
“And we’re probably learning about David as well and how we can best get the best out of him and put him in positions that he is very good at.”
Lemi raced 50m to set up Danny Cipriani against Leeds last week before slicing through Gloucester to win the game with an amazing try in the final stages on Sunday.
His initial burst of speed took him past the covering defence before he slid past James Simpson-Daniel in the tightest of gaps without the Gloucester winger so much as laying a hand on him.
Hanks said: “That’s why we brought David Lemi here. It was an unbelievable try.”
