MARLOW FC boss Kevin Stone has challenged his strikers to find their shooting boots after weeks of misfiring in front of goal.
They began the season in free-scoring fashion but the goals have dried up since the winter freeze and it hit a nadir this week with just one goal from a bagful of chances created during home games with Biggleswade and Barton Rovers.
Stone said: “We beat Barton 1-0 but it could’ve been five by half time and seven or eight by the end.
“We were inept in front of goal and it carried on from Saturday.
“Jermaine [Roche] and Aaron [Couch] could have had a hat-trick each against Barton, we created more chances than we will in our next three games combined and we need to improve our conversion rate.”
Couch eventually got the winner with a scrambled, close-range effort but Roche has now not scored since netting a hat-trick at Atherstone back in November.
Stone said: “He’s just missing his chances.
“He’s still getting in the right areas and if we weren’t creating chances then I’d worry. I’m sure he’s just one goal away from getting back into form.”
