WASPS’ decision to play their St George’s Day Game against Bath at Twickenham on April 24 has already paid off.
With six weeks still to go before the match, they have already sold 35,000 tickets – more than three Adams Park sell-outs.
Wasps are hoping to push the attendance over 80,000, with £1 per ticket being donated to Help for Heroes.
Wasps owner Steve Hayes said: “We have a huge line up of entertainment building and hope that it will just be brilliant day out “We are selling tickets at a pretty rapid rate and I hope that continues because we have a lot to play for in the league and I think this is going to be huge in rugby terms. The rivalry between Wasps and Bath is age old and I want to see Twickenham heaving with Wasps supporters.”
Wasps also launched its ‘Treat a Troop’ initiative last week, which enables fans to buy a ticket for a serviceman when purchasing their own ticket.
The entire Wasps squad has opted in and an extra 500 tickets have already been sold through this initiative.
Tickets start at £10. Call 0844 225 2990 or go to www.stgeorgesdaygame.co.uk
