TOM Rees says re-naming the club Wycombe Wasps would be unfair to the club’s history, but thinks losing the London prefix is an option.
Rees, a former High Wycombe RGS pupil, said: “Personally, my feeling is that the club is Wasps.
“I think some people might take issue with the idea of Wycombe Wasps. I wouldnt’ necessarily see it as a slap in the face of the history of the club, but you would lose that acknowledgement of where the club has come from.
“In terms of setting a base and being part of Wycombe I don’t see the name as an issue. We’re Wasps. That’s how people refer to us.”
Wasps was derived from Wasps Football Club, who were formed in 1867 in North London,
