Blues' goal hero is left feeling flat

MATT Bloomfield became the first player this season to score a league goal against Accrington Stanley – but you wouldn't have known it afterwards.

He opened his account for the season but cut a forlorn figure afterwards as his strike was cancelled out when Blues gifted Rory Boulding an injury time leveller.

Bloomfield said: “I was delighted to score but now it means nothing as we didn't come away with all the points. It feels as though we have been beaten.”

Wanderers had the points in the bag. They had 30 seconds left. They had the ball as far away from their own goal as possible, right next to the Accrington corner flag, but they lost possession, lost their shape for the first time in the game and lost two points as a consequence.

Bloomfield said: “It feels as though we have come away with nothing because we shoould have come away with everything.

“I'm absolutely gutted, devastated. We should have taken the points and extended our lead. We should have seen out the game.

“We kept them at bay until the last minute. We had the ball by their corner flag and should have kept it there. But we didn't. We let them break away and they have scored.”

It was a sorry end to a good away performance and Man of the Match Bloomfield says Blues must give visitors Macclesfield the backlash next week.

He said: “It's two weeks in a row now that we have dropped points at the death. We should have come away with six points but we have got two.

“But we mustn't get too down about ourselves.

“We are still unbeaten, we've got to take what's happened on the chin and go again next week.”

And the former Ipswich youngster will lead by example. He has been reborn this season, starring in the club's unbeaten start to the campaign.

He has defended stoically and been a real threat in the other box as well, timing his breaks from midfield with precision.

He said: “I am delighted to be back playing after a frustrating couple of years for me with injuries. I'm loving the fact that I'm back in the team. I'm enjoying training. I'm enjoying games but I would be enjoying it a helluva lot more if we had a few more points.”

match stats 14 fouls for wycombe.four added minutes.its not science cut out the bad behavior and you shorten the possibility of conceding a goal late on.I have great faith in this team this year. The goals have been promised but not yet.Time to step up to the plate and deliver. Its really hard to watch players put the ball over the bar or wide of the post when they kick it at goal from ten yards out and miss.I could do that and would but I do not play football and they do, full time every day. I love this team and enjoy my Saturdays with them in my life. But please dont harp on about how good you all are and that there is no worry when you try to hang on to 1.0 leads. 4 goals in 5 games and still unbeaten is admirable but thats 8 points lost for a team and I wonder when our forwards will deliver
