Wycombe rider mounts up for Rio Games

ERIN Orford is more determined than ever to reach the Paralympic Games in Rio after watching London 2012 from the outside.

The High Wycombe dressage rider only just missed out on selection in a marginal either/or call with Natasha Baker.

She’d beaten Baker just weeks before the Games, but Baker got the vote and repaid the selectors’ faith with two golds.

Orford, who was shown around the Olympic Park as part of the Paralympic Inspiration Programme, knows it could have been her.

She said: “To go and win two golds at your first Paralympics is unbelievable, it makes me really want to complete.”

She doesn’t have long to wait – the National Championships take place in Warwickshire next week and Orford has also been selected for the able-bodied Home Internationals in Aylesbury.
