WYCOMBE Wanderers will face Stockport County - the team that hammered them 6-0 in December - for a place in the play-off final at Wembley.

The Blues will entertain Jim Gannon's men at Adams Park on Sunday evening (ko 6pm) before returning to the scene of their record league defeat for the second leg on Saturday, May 17 (ko 6pm).

Whoever comes out on top will then face the winners of the other semi-final between Darlington and Rochdale in the final at Wembley on May 26.

Wanderers boss Paul Lambert said: "We are three games away from greatness."

And he says that defeat in the soaking rain at Edgeley Park five months ago counts for nothing now.

His team have been unrecognisable since that Edgeley Park embarrassment taking 51 points out of 81 since to finish seventh in the table just four points behind fourth-placed County.

Lambert said: "The lads have been absolutely brilliant since that game and it didn't matter to me who we played in the play-offs, we certainly won't fear anyone.

"That 6-0 defeat is forgotten it is in the past. I'm not going to worry about Stockport.

"What has happened in the past, we can beat Stockport over two legs. It's going to be tough, it's going to be exciting but I am confident we can do it.

"I've got a group of lads who are running through walls for me and I know they will give it everything they have got in the two games against them.

"I'm very confident going into these games and so are the players. It has been a fantastic season so far and we've got hopefully three more games to make it one of the greatest seasons this club has had."
