NICOLA Sanders will have to rely on the relay as she chases Olympic glory.
The Amersham sprinter missed out on qualification for the women's 400m individual final as her injury-hit season finally caught up with her.
She was given a tough draw in lane nine for this afternoon's semi-final and finished in fourth spot - outside of qualification for Tuesday's final in the Bird's Nest.
She clocked 50.71 and could not mask her disappointment as she realised there would be no repeat of her World Championship silver medal.
She said: "It's disappointing because I thought I could do it again."
But she has vowed to pick herself up and go again for the 4x400 relay.
She said: "I will go away and think about this for a little bit and then put it to one side and concentrate on the next thing."
