WANDERERS have told John Sutton he can leave Adams Park.
The former St Mirren striker has scored just six times since his much-hyped move South and Wanderers have said he can go on a free transfer.
Sutton, the younger brother of former Celtic ace Chris, was billed as being a Wycombe Wanderers legend of the future when he joined the club from St Mirren where he plundered 30 goals in 75 matches in the Scottish Premier League.
He was signed in the week when Wanderers sacked Blues legends Steve Brown and Keith Ryan for financial reasons and the club said then that Sutton would become as big a part of Wanderers' history as they were.
But it didn't work out like that.
The 25-year-old managed just six goals last season and didn't even make the travelling 17 for Saturday's 2-0 win away at Chester with Chris Zebroski starting alongside Scott McGleish and Magno Vieira on the bench.
Manager Peter Taylor said: "I've said to John that he may not be starting as many matches as he would like, so if he thinks there's something out there I will listen to it.
"He's a good lad, he certainly won't be frozen out but if something happens for him and he wants to do it then I'd listen.
"There wouldn't be a fee. He's one of the higher wage earners but that's not the reason. At the end of the day all managers look at certain things and at the moment I think Chris Zebroski would be starting a little before him so that's the reason."
Scottish Premier League clubs Motherwell and St Mirren have already expressed an interest in taking Sutton back to Scotland.
