Marlow Rowing Club's juniors passed the 100 wins mark for the year with 11 more victories at the Bedford Head last Sunday.

The junior girls won the Women's novice double sculls with Juliet Steyner and Sophie Pain beating the local Star club by five seconds to set the ball rolling.

Then Danielle Peck, Alice Denyor, Nicola Dinsey and Katherine Holloway won novice quads with Kelly Weston coxing the junior 15 quad to victory with Rachael Finnis, Bridget Coles, Leigh Merrifield and Sarah Briggs beating a quality fields including Dame Alice Harper and Bedford High School.

Finnis and Merrifield, both from Great Marlow School, then picked up their second wins in the junior 15 double sculls. Steph Mottram then chalked up another victory for the club when she won the junior 18 single sculls despite a crash on the Bedford course.

The junior boys crews also got in on the winning act. Jack Stokes led the way to win junior 15 single sculls and the Marlow boys were also first and second in the junior 15 quads.

The A crew of George Bone, Tom Davey, Charlie Reynolds and Phil Shelley coxed by Dan Clarke won their event while the B crew added a win in the J14 quads with Tom Burton, Jo Hale, Jack Garrett and Chris Rendell victorious with Dan Clarke coxing.

Phil Shelley and Tom Davey made it a clean sweep of the junior 15 events by winning the double sculls.

More success followed in the junior 16s where Angus Caddon and Nick Crease built on their good performance at Wallingford by winning at Bedford. They then went on to beat the adult crews in the men's novice double sculls as well.

In the junior 18 double sculls, Mike Mottram and Loic Ditchburn put in a storming scull to beat a Peterborough crew which cont-ained national champions Bream.

Captain Bret King was delighted with the showing of his junior crews.

He said: "Getting over 100 wins at club and national events is a superb achievement in the 12 month period and shows the strength of the club across all its squads from junior to senior."

l Marlow's juniors and seniors were also in action at the national Saturday's Pairs Head in London which drew more than 300 crews to race form Chiswick to Hammer-smith on the Thames.

Marlow secured a superb win with Jack Hockley and Alec Mangion from Walton RC winning the junior 16 double sculls in style, comfortably ahead of their nearest rivals. Marlow's other juniors also showed well with Sam Prosser and Marcus Glover coming fourtth in the same event.

The senior men also had an early season run out with Tom McGibbon and Rob Downie coming third in the senior two men's pairs.

The Marlow/ Mortlake combination of Claire Haley and Hanson were also third in the women's senior two double sculls and Louise Ainley and Helen Seldon were fourth in the women's senior two pairs.
