ALEX Lozowski might be fast-tracked into the Wasps first team squad after Ruaridh Jackson suffered long-term injury against Northampton last week.

Jackson will miss most of the season with an ACL tear, meaning Lozowski, just 21, and Goode are the only recognised fly halves at the club.

Director of rugby Dai Young said: “In an ideal world we’d have liked to have dripped him in this year. Playing the A team and LV=Cup games with a handful of Premiership appearances would have been perfect for him.

“That’s probably not going to be the case now but I’m sure it’s a challenge he’ll relish and take in his stride.”

Lozowski looked good during pre-season and also starred in the A team’s victory over London Irish this week.

Young said: “Alex is coming on leaps and bounds. I’ve been really happy with him.

“He’s a young kid and has to understand what we want from him and understand what leadership skills he needs to develop as a ten because they pretty much run the show when it comes to attack.

“Every week he’s getting better and more confident and we’ve got no hesitation in involving him.

“We think he’s a star in the making but we’ve got to make sure he’s not over-exposed because that can be as bad as no exposure.”
