DAI Young says Wasps are embarrassed after capitulating in a 74-13 defeat to Northampton today.

Wasps led 13-0, but Saints steamrollered them after that as Wasps folded after the break, conceding seven further tries to add to the four they shipped before the break.

Young said: "We're all pretty embarrassed by that performance. The biggest disappointment to me was that we seemed to lack any fight when they got in front.

"We had a good first 20 minutes but their power game was always going to tell and they were always going to get themselves back in the game.

"But there was only 13 points in it going into the second half and we spoke at half time about showing pride and getting the first score on the board, but it just got worse from there.

"Next week will take care of itself, but this is certainly going to take a good few days for me to get over, I don't know about the players. I don't think there is any shame in coming to Franklin's Garden and losing, but to lose by that score is unacceptable."

With a European showdown with Stade Francais coming up, Wasps named a weakened side today.

But Young said: "We didn't have any loan players out there, it wasn't an LV team. That was our first team squad and today we just weren't good enough.

"We can be beaten by a better team and that happens, but coming into this game I expected us to push them and show the fight that is the minimum standard for me.

"To go out with a bit of a whimper is unacceptable for me. After 35 minutes Northampton had very little to play for either because they had achieved what they wanted, but they kept on playing and we stopped."
