WASPS have declared Christian Wade 100 per cent fit on the eve of the new Aviva Premiership season.
The winger played his first game in nine months last week and has suffered no reaction to the action, although Wasps say they don’t need to risk him if there is even a hint of a niggle.
Dai Young said: “We’ve been very careful with him.
“The initial problem was a foot injury, which you’ve got to be mindful of especially with someone with Christian’s power and explosiveness and acceleration.
“A foot problem can be a real issue for someone like that.
“And then coming back, when you’ve been out for four or five months everything else starts to niggle away with hamstrings and calves.
“But we feel he’s pretty much back to 100 per cent.
“But it’s ongoing and we feel we’ve got a squad now that’s strong enough that we haven’t got to risk Christian Wade or anybody else.
“If he’s not 100 per cent he doesn’t play."
