WASPS director of rugby Dai Young admitted his team were well-short against Harlequins last night, and believes they were lucky their defeat wasn’t heavier.
Wasps lost 23-16 in the Champions Cup and after losing their opening pool game to Leinster are now rank outsiders to reach the knockout stages.
Young said: “I felt we were never in control of that game from the word go. I felt we came second best in most areas.
“We looked a really flat, tired team. We’ve hardly trained all week, but that’s no excuse. I thought Quins were by far the better team.
“We’ve had some big performances here this season, but it looked like it all started to catch us with us.
“We lacked energy and to be quite honest I think the score flattered us at the end.”
