I was a young lad of nine when my dad took me to see my first Wycombe game at Adams Park.
JUST how good does it feel to be on top of the pile, still unbeaten in the league 18 games in?
GUTTED is not a word that I particularly like using. But that is exactly how I felt at 4.15pm last Saturday when Northampton's second goal went in.
JUST how exciting is it to watch Wycombe at the moment? It is the most entertaining football we have played in years, and it is working.
The Nathan Tyson transfer saga continues. Last week Sheffield Wednesday attempted to buy our 13-goal star striker outside the transfer window. They offered a total fee of £600,000 to take Tyson on an "emergency loan" before completing a permanent move in January when the transfer window reopens.
That game was way above the level of the second division and Wycombe were by far the best team we have played. The two strikers Tyson and Mooney caused a lot of problems but to be fair they are above this division.' That was the view of Stockport manager, Chris Turner, which certainly mirrors the post-match opnions of most managers this season. But just why are we drawing games we should have sewn up?
CONGRATULATIONS to the board of Wycombe Wanderers for their decision to keep Nathan Tyson at the club. They have taken a gamble (Tyson could well leave for nothing in the summer) and concluded that promotion to League One is more important than £300,000 gained for selling Tyson. Only time will tell if this is the right decision, but on paper it shows the ambition that we want and expect.
THE Kassam Stadium, home of Oxford United, is a pretty miserable place. Last Saturday saw my first visit (I missed the match on New Year's Day as I was watching cricket in South Africa) and, some good football and a reasonable result apart, I didn't enjoy it.
A FRIEND asked me the other day: "How do you think Wycombe will do this season?" I replied: "I would be extremely disappointed if we weren't promoted. I genuinely think we can win this league."
