EMBARRASSED striker Matt Harrold says Wanderers got what they deserved as they slipped up spectacularly on the Eastwood Town FA Cup banana skin.
Harrold received a cut eye in the clash, while strike partner Chris Zebroski was forced off at half time with a gashed ankle, but the forward was offering no excuses despite being upset at the amount of protection he and his team-mates received from the referee.
Harrold said: “We weren’t good enough. They did well and we didn’t.
“ We’re devastated. Everyone is in there “They were very physical and the referee didn’t give us much protection but that’s not an excuse. They won because they battled.”
Harrold hit a hat-trick in the 4-1 rout of AFC Wimbledon in the previous round but he was hardly given a sniff on Saturday as the wheels came off for Blues, who looked unrecognisable from the team which has gone all season without a league defeat.
He said: “We were fully prepared, we knew what to expect we just had a very bad day at the office.
“We’ve got to bounce back on Tuesday.”
