Wycombe 1, Barnet 1.
WANDERERS dropped two more home promotion points as a former Adams Park transfer target Paul Furlong dealt their automatic promotion hopes another blow.
The man Blues twice tried to sign last season capitalised on a horror mistake by his ex-Chelsea team-mate Frank Sinclair to bring the Bees level and extend Wycombe's worrying winless run to six games.
Sinclair should have dealt with the ball but he looked as though he was in a three-legged race as he tried to deal and veteran Furlong accepted the gift to score with ease and tie things up just before half time.
It was a dreadful way for Wycombe to surrender their 19th minute lead – especially as the nerve-riddled Blues had got away with two kamikaze moments before that.
First keeper Jamie Young was lucky to escape unpunished when he smashed his drop kick straight into a Barnet attacker.
Then he escaped scott-free again as he and defender Luke Oliver played a suicidal game of indecision which resulted in the Aussie glovesman getting a booking for a desperate trip on Albert Adomah but that was a small price to pay.
Not even the cushion of taking an early lead could calm Wanderers down as once again the visitors to Adams Park looked like the home side.
John Akinde's super strike, when he teased former Premiership man Gary Breen on the edge of the box before steering in a precise shot, should have been the catalyst for Wycombe to build and cash in on one of their games in hand.
But they disappeared back into their shell and the Barnet equaliser was an accident waiting to happen.
Boss Peter Taylor made the first of his three changes on the hour mark bringing on Lee Sawyer for the disappointing Matt Bloomfield.
Ite almost paid instand dividends with Sawyer's clever back heel triggering Gary Holt into action.
Holt who scored his first goal of the season in spectacular style on Saturday nearly did it again with a long range effort which this time the keeper managed to claw to safety.
But if Blues fans thought it was the sign of better things to come their hearts missed another collective beat moments later when the lively Albert Adomah skated past keeper Young but with a posse of Blues tracking back, Adomah could not profit.
Blues also had their chance with just two minutes left. Sawyer again played his part teeing up Harrold whose fierce drive was beaten out. Gary Holt chased the rebound but Breen did just enough to stop him getting any sort of clean contact.
It wasn't enough to satisfy the home faithful though with a section booing the team off.
