Taylor's early departure "devastating" for Blues

PETER Taylor’s early-season departure from Wycombe Wanderers could be a “devastating” blow for the club, said one Blues stalwart this morning.

Monty Seymour, life president of Wycombe Wanderers added he hoped the team could “pull together” while a new manager is chosen.

He said: “It’s come out of the blue to me. I’m very sorry to hear it - it’s disruptive.

“I think the players liked him, and he attracted players, but he didn’t seem to have the ability to get a consistent team.

“I’m just sorry we have got to change the manager again – we don’t seem to click with the managers at the moment.

“It’s devastating to lose the manager at the beginning of the season.

I hope we get another one soon. I hope we get one that get the consistency we need and that the team can pull together.”

Alan Feldberg, sports writer for the Bucks Free Press interviewed Taylor yesterday for today’s edition of the newspaper and said he gave no inkling of this morning’s bombshell.

He said: “I am shocked to hear the news.

“Speaking to him yesterday morning, he seemed very upbeat and he was thinking long term in terms of bringing in players in the future and working with the current group to get them out of the relegation zone.

“I know he was coming in for a bit of stick from the fans but he was taking in his stride and he had a positive outlook on the overall picture of the club.”

The struggling team parted company with Taylor by 'mutual consent', the club announced this morning.
