Bucks Fire and Rescue needs on-call firefighters to join teams in Princes Risborough and Stokenchurch.

On-call firefighters are paid staff who do the same job as full-time firefighters, but instead of working from a fire station, they are on standby waiting to be called out.

The role would be ideal for people who work for themselves or from home, or for a company that would allow them to leave work to attend an emergency.

Station Commander Tom Brandon said: “On-call firefighters are a vital part of today’s fire and rescue service. They provide an efficient, cost-effective service that gives emergency cover to more than 90 per cent of the UK.

“We are hoping that people who haven’t previously considered applying will stop and ask themselves whether they can, in fact, provide cover at critical times of the day or night."

On-call firefighters are trained and equipped to deal with incidents and situations like fires, road traffic collisions, rescues and water related incidents.

Staff can also be trained for further qualifications, such as health and safety and first aid.

To apply, or ask for further information about the selection and application process, email eshelpdesk@bucksfire.gov.uk and include the name of the fire station are you interested in applying for, your full name, home address and contact details, your work address (if intending to respond during work time), what time of day and days of the week you are free to respond to emergencies and if you an LGV or PSV driver in your main employment.
