The new Tesco Express store in Stokenchurch celebrated it's first day of trading with a donation to a local youth club.

The store, on the corner of George Road and Wycombe Road, opened for the first time on Friday morning and Nigel Entwistle, Chairman of the Stokenchurch Youth Club Management Committee, was the guest of honour.

Mr Entwistle cut the ribbon and officially declared the store open.

Store Manager, Barry Collins, and his team of 17 staff then presented him with a £500 cheque towards Stokenchurch Youth Club.

The club provides a drop-in service on Friday evenings for 11 to 18-year-olds.

Mr Entwistle thanked the new store for the donation, saying: "We provide games, and controlled internet access, in a safe environment.

"To survive, we rely on the generous donations we receive from organisations, and we thank Tesco for their gift of £500.”

Mr Collins added: "We were delighted to be able to support the Stokenchurch Youth Club as it does such brilliant work for those living in the Stokenchurch community.

"We are so pleased that Nigel was able to come to open the new store and join in the celebrations with us.

“We are really enjoying meeting our new customers and we hope that Tesco will become a key part of the local community.”
