I REFER to the front page of the Free Press Classifieds section of August 29 in your headline article "Spotlight on bike accidents".
You quote Malcolm James as saying: "The preconception amongst many of the biking fraternity is that four-wheeled motorists are at fault, but our statistics suggest this is not the case" and then the article goes on to imply that motorcyclists are at fault.
There is no mention of the fact that in the majority of the 676 accidents mentioned, the majority will have been car/bike and in the majority of those the car driver will have been at fault.
Taking one biased opinion and basing a whole article around it gives a very distorted view of a subject despite the, incorrectly quoted from me, final paragraph.
The fact that most motorcycle accidents are caused by car drivers is not a misconception but just that - a fact.

I’ve decided to embark on a new career. For years I’ve depended on the goodness of someone else paying me a salary for my journalistic wares. It hasn’t earned me a fortune, but at least it’s kept a roof over my head with enough left to feed the cat.
