AS NERVOUS students across Bucks open their A-Level results this morning, Buckinghamshire New University is gearing up for a busy period as Clearing begins.

Staff at the university in High Wycombe are on hand from today to give careers advice to students who did not get the grades they needed to get into their choice of university.

Elizabeth Pate, student recruitment officer, said students should get in touch with staff at the Queen Alexandra Road campus if they have not received the results expected.

She also offered advice for people going through Clearing.

She said: "We offer our congratulations to any students who have got the grades they hoped for and their first choice university will be in touch to confirm their place.

"Even if the results did not go as expected we would suggest still contacting that university to see if they have places.

"Otherwise, UCAS will update students' Clearing numbers on its Track service so we advise people have that to hand and then get in touch.”

Ms Pate added it is important students update their UCAS contact details and familiarise themselves with the courses on offer from the university if they are offered a place during Clearing.

This year, Bucks New University's clearing hotline is open from 8am to 8pm today, 8am to 7pm tomorrow and 9am to 3pm on Saturday.

The Clearing hotline number is 0800 0565 660 and students are also able to access a dedicated online clearing portal at bucks.ac.uk/clearing for advice, guidance and questions.
