Lorraine Watkins-Mathys, dean of the faculty of Design Media & Management at Buckinghamshire New University, writes:

University looks to work with businesses to improve the economy We are all keen to see the economy thriving and people getting jobs and at Bucks we are looking forward to working more closely with businesses to bring about greater innovation and business solutions.

So that businesses can find out more about how we can do this we have organised a networking event at our campus in Queen Alexandra Road, High Wycombe, from 6pm-8pm on Wednesday 18 November.

This will be a great opportunity for us to show that if you thought universities were an ivory tower far removed from the real world, then think again.

Bucks New University is working in many areas that affect everyday businesses, such as cyber security, brand promotion, or getting to grips with social media. There is much exciting and inspirational talent to be found at the University and we enjoy strong industry networks. We would like firms to come and see how they can get involved with the university and how together we can work to find business solutions.

Bucks New University is an anchor institution for the region, offering expertise in creative media and technology as well as knowledge in key areas such as aviation, health, security, and business continuity and creative technology.

So, whether you are looking to have some consultancy work done for you, engage in a part-Government funded knowledge transfer project, invest in a student innovative start-up or simply want to work with us as part of your corporate social responsibility (CSR) why not come along on 18 November to find out more? We look forward to seeing you.

To register, or for more details, email business@bucks.ac.uk. It’s just one of the many exciting things we have taking place at Bucks!
