ON a wet Tuesday in October, members were taken on a trip to sunny South Africa by Mrs Hulbert, who told us about her holiday along the Garden Route.

Illustrated with slides, this was a fascinating journey during which we saw stunning scenery. Never one to miss a photo opportunity, our guide also presented shots of the local flora and fauna. Many beautiful flowers, birds and animals were discovered along the way.

As always with Mrs Hulbert, there were lots of amusing anecdotes of events happening along the route. This was the perfect antidote to a miserable afternoon and even the rain had stopped as we left the hall!

The walking group has again moved its activities to lunchtime as the evenings are drawing in. There are usually eight or nine members taking part, following their exertions with lunch at a nearby hostelry.

In lieu of an August meeting, 19 members enjoyed a summer lunch at Fingest. Although it was a rather wet day, this did not affect our enjoyment of the occasion and it was agreed that we should make this our annual event.

The AGM was held on November 3 and on December 2 we shall be entertained by, and hopefully sing along with, the Witchert Warblers.

Meetings are at 2.15pm at the Booker Memorial Hall, where guests are assured of a warm welcome.
