MEMBERS and guests were transported to the Lake District looking at the beautiful slides of the area and the stunning wild birds at the September meeting.

Mrs B Hulbert had made several visits and had captured the beauty of the mountains and lakes in different seasons. Mrs P Heath thanked the speaker who it turned out had had to drive through a violent storm near to where she lives. Mrs J Alderman's holiday memento won the competition.

Mrs P Gowen's walk and supper in August was enjoyed and she was thanked for holding it in her home and not the garden as planned due to the poor weather. We have had invitations from The Windmill and Sands Valley to attend their birthday parties and a social event at St James hosted by Downley Evening WI our close neighbour.

Future plans are many and varied at a local level. BFWI our county office also has many autumn events planned up and down the county.

Next month our speaker is Mrs K Miller who will bring her Himalayan Singing Bowls, the competition is a decorative bowl.

We meet the first Tuesday of the month at 7.45pm in the Community Centre, School Close. Access to the hall car park has been changed due to the new housing estate.
